PRIVACY POLICY: INITIATIVES FOR PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION OF LIXIL CO., LTD.

LIXIL Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called the "Company") considers the protection and suitable management of personal information of customers as a social responsibility of the Company. The Company shall strive for suitable management and protection of personal information acquired by the Company (including personal information provided by Customers by use of the Company website) based on our basic policy in relation to the protection of personal information (hereinafter referred to the "Basic Policy").

  1. Definition of Personal Information
    Personal information means something enabling the identification of an individual existing person and includes the following.
    1. a. Name, address, date of birth, gender, occupation, telephone number, email address, or the like.
    2. b. Information that does not enable identification of a specific individual only by use of that information, but enables identification of a specific individual as a result of simple combination with other information.
  2. Use of Personal Information and Provision of Such Information to Third Parties
    1. (1) Personal information of a customer may be used by the following parties.
      1. a. The Company and subsidiaries thereof.
      2. b. The parent company of the Company and subsidiaries thereof.
      3. c. Shizenyoku de Kurasu Partners registered stores.
      4. d. Trading partners of a, b, and c above.
    2. (2) The purpose of use of customer personal information is as follows.
      1. a. For provision of value-added services of interest to the customer in relation to residential building material products, commercial building material products, exterior products, residential facility equipment that are handled by the Company (hereinafter referred to as "Company Products").
      2. b. For provision of materials and catalogues related to Company Products when requested by the customer.
      3. c. For provision of an optimal plan in relation to products under discussion or building methods when a customer visits a registered showroom.
      4. d. For provision of information (mailed magazine and the like in relation to Company Products) by direct mail or email to the customer.
      5. e. For sending presents selected by a customer during campaigns.
      6. f. For notification of information related to the work provided to another customer when the customer selects an exterior wall building material.
      7. g. To introduce the trading partners of the Company for the approval of the Customer.
      8. h. To check the level of satisfaction or state of use of the customer in relation to products or services.
      9. i. To respond to the opinions or wishes from the customer in relation to the Company or Company Products.
      10. j. To contact the customer for the purpose of afterservice, maintenance of Company Products, or the like.
    3. (3) When there is a need for use of the personal information of a customer by the Company and by a party other than the Company, or when there is a need for use for a purpose other than the stated uses above, except for the circumstances in 3. b, d, e, f, g, below, the using party and the purpose of use shall be communicated in advance to the customer, and provision of information or use of information will be performed after obtaining the consent in advance of the customer.
    4. (4) When a question or opinion is received by contact with the Company, a record of the communication may be made by recording the telephone call for example. The details of such record will be used for the provision of more responsive services in relation to the details or to confirm the conversation.
  3. Scope of Disclosure of Personal Information
    Except for the following circumstances, personal information will be not disclosed or provided to a third party.
    1. a. When consent is obtained from the customer.
    2. b. When the individual customer cannot be identified.
    3. c. When providing personal information to a company falling within 2.(1), a, b, c, d above (hereinafter referred to as "Receiving Party of Personal Information").
    4. d. When required for the protection of the life or the property of a person, and there is difficult in obtaining the consent of the customer.
    5. e. When particularly required for improvement of public health or the proper rearing of infants and children, and there is difficult in obtaining the consent of the customer.
    6. f. When cooperation is required for performance of duties by a national institution or regional authorities as determined by law or regulation, and there is a risk of impediment to such duties by reason of obtaining consent in relation to the information itself.
    7. g. When required by law or regulation.
  4. Management of Personal Information
    1. (1) In addition to the execution of training and education for staff, the Company shall strive for the suitable management of personal information by the provision of management staff in departments that handle personal information.
    2. (2) The Company shall strive to maintain the security and the like of the website of the Company for the prevention of the unauthorized access, leakage, destruction or alteration of the personal information of a customer.
    3. (3) The Company shall conclude a non-disclosure agreement with a Receiving Party of Personal Information in relation to the personal information of customers for cooperation in the suitable handling and protection of such information, and the prevention of the leakage, re-provision or disclosure to a third party, or use for a purpose outside the scope defined in 2.(2) above.
  5. Disclosure, Alternation, Addition, Cessation of Use, and Deletion of Personal Information
    1. (1) Please contact the Company directly in relation to a request by a customer for the disclosure, alternation, addition, cessation of use, or deletion of personal information of a customer held by the Company. In view of maintaining accuracy and security and preventing leakage of personal information, in the absence of a special procedure pursuant to law or regulation, any necessary confirmation shall be conducted without delay. In the event it can be confirmed that the request relates to the personal information of the customer, the disclosure, alternation, addition, cessation of use or deletion of the personal information of the customer shall be performed without delay and in accordance with law and regulation.
    2. (2) The customer making the request shall be contacted without delay in relation to the performance or non-performance of the disclosure etc. as described above. In the event of non-performance, we will strive to provide an explanation for the reason.
  6. Provision of Personal Information to Receiving Party of Personal Information
    1. (1) The scope of the personal information of a customer provided to a Receiving Party of Personal Information shall cover all such personal information except upon receipt of a particular application from the client.
    2. (2) The provision of the personal information of a customer to a Receiving Party of Personal Information may be executed by a method including but not limited to forwarding of a paper document or electronic data, transfer of electromagnetic tape, or access to a server.
    3. (3) When a request for the cessation of provision of information to a Receiving Party of Personal Information is received from the customer themselves, the provision of the personal information of that customer to the Receiving Party of Personal Information shall be ceased without delay in accordance with law and regulation.
    4. (4) The customer making the request shall be contacted without delay in relation to the performance or non-performance of the cessation of provision etc. as described above. In the event of non-performance, we will strive to provide an explanation for the reason.
  7. Exceptions
    1. (1) Please ensure proper attention to management in the event that an ID and password is registered for a customer in relation to use of the website of the Company. No responsibility shall be accepted by the Company for damage arising from the unauthorized use of such ID or password. Furthermore, we ask for your understanding that use of an ID or password may be stopped by the Company in the event that the customer registers false information or information relating to another person.
    2. (2) The Company shall accept no responsibility at all in relation to the protection or handling of personal information of the customer in relation to another website that is linked to the website of the Company.
  8. Compliance with Related Law and Regulation, and other Standards
    The Company shall comply with the laws and regulation of Japan in relation to the person information of the customer.
  9. Notification of Changes to Basic Policy
    The details of the Basic Policy may be varied as required. Since communication cannot be made with each customer on each such occasions, the latest version of the Basic Policy shall be provided as a latest edition on the Company website.
  10. Use of Cookies
    1. (1) The Company website includes a page that uses a technology called "cookies" that enables more convenient use by the customer when accessing the Web on a subsequent occasion.
      "Cookies" are an industry standard technology for the identification of the computer of a customer on a web server. The "Cookies" enable identification of the computer of the customer, but do not identify the customer themselves as long as the personal information of the customer is not inputted. The browser that is used may invalidate the cookie function by changing the settings. However as a result, a part or the whole of the services on the webpage will no longer be capable of use.

      Explanation of Terms related to "Cookies"
      This is one method of identifying a computer that is browsing a homepage on the Web. A cookie may be stored as a file in the customer disk as a small amount of information that is sent to the hard-disk or the browser of the customer from the web server. This is for the purpose of storing information related to the server on the accessing party side. In this manner, even after leaving the webpage, in the event to accessing that page on a subsequent occasion, the computer of the accessing party can be identified since the server can read the "cookie" that is stored in the hard-disk and the browser of the accessing party.
      Although the cookie can be used to identify the customer computer, the customer themselves cannot be identified as long as the personal information of the customer is not inputted.
    2. (2) The Company may use the data obtained via cookies in the following situations.
      1. a. When providing a service that is customized for an individual customer by the revision or deletion of contents for the purpose of increasing a level of satisfaction.
      2. b. When analyzing what interest a customer may have in any service, and when using to forward effective advertizing on the site.
      *The Google Analytics service is used that is provided by the Google Company for the purpose of comprehending the state of use of the site and for the providing of an improved homepage by the Company.

  11. Security
    The Company shall strive to maintain the security of the website of the Company for the purpose of preventing unauthorized access or leakage or the like of the personal information of the customer. The website of the Company uses a security function (SSL) for automatic encryption and sending of information on the Internet in a form sending. However SSL function is limited to complying browsers (Netscape Navigator version 2.0 and later, and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 2.1 and later), please confirm the version of your browser.
